     In this khutba (sermon) from 1998, Imam Dr. Yahia Khairy Abdul Rahman elaborates on many of the revealing signs in God/Allah’s creation and humbly invites us to renew our bond with the Divine- not with blind faith- but with the use of all of our God-given faculties. Hear Imam Dr. Yahia speak on the following topics:

• God/Allah, The one and The Eternal. Witnessing Allah's magnificence by observing the signs in creation. Have we stopped to marvel at the heavens? Or at this universe, so vast and infinite? In doing so, we've no choice but submit our intellect and spirit to its creator, Allah/God.

• Remembering to praise Allah (in the midst of our preoccupied existences) for the gifts He has entrusted to mankind: our sensory skills, our cognitive powers and our volition.

• Reflecting upon one of Allah's greatest signs: how the day is gradually overtaken by the night and the night is slowly supplanted by the day. With these signs, Allah has allowed mankind to measure the day and years. Yet, with that power, our human limitations never allow us to fully comprehend time, an enigma that persists beyond our control.

• Societies and nations progress not through decrees or legislation, but only through the enhancement of the individual character. When noble virtues and values become integral parts of the human character- rather than abstract phrases to be lauded- then we will have achieved true success, as human beings and as those who have earned the esteemed title of a Muslim, “one who truly submits their will to Allah/God (swt).”

• Connecting with Allah/God through prayers (salah). An invitation from our Lord to purify and realign ourselves with his majesty and the movement in the cosmos.

• Becoming people of our word, people of profound honor, fair and just in our dealings- even if it means testifying against ourselves.
